Doubt/Judge Creator Tonogai Launches Dead Company Manga (Updated)

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga centers on young man with special experience recruited by game developer

The official Twitter account for Gentosha's Comic Boost manga website announced on Monday that Yoshiki Tonogai is launching a new manga titled Dead Company in the site.

The announcement described the manga as centering on a "death game with a new dimension." The story follows Miyamura, a young, unemployed man who has gone through a special experience, but lives an empty existence. However, one day he is scouted by EDC, a major game development company.

Tonogai's Doubt manga ran in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2007-2009 and Yen Press released the series in English. After finishing Doubt, Tonogai launched another psychological horror manga, Judge, in the same magazine from 2010-2012. Yen Press also released that series in English. A live-action version of Judge opened in Japan in 2013. Tonogai then launched the Secret manga in Monthly Shonen Gangan in 2013, and ended it in 2015. Yen Press also released the series digitally and in print.

Tonogai launched the Ikitemasu ka? Honda-kun manga (seen right) in in Monthly Shonen Gangan in July 2016, and ended it last February. Square Enix published the manga's third and final volume last May.
