Redline London Cinema Screening on November 9
posted on by Andrew Osmond
There will be a cinema screening of Takeshi Koike's Redline on Wednesday November 9 (8.15 p.m.), introduced by Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham of the Ghibliotheque podcast. The venue is the Prince Charles cinema off Leicester Square.
Released in 2009, Redline is a racing film by director Takeshi Koike, creator Katsuhito Ishii, and the Studio Madhouse (Paprika, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars). The film follows the biggest and most deadly racing tournament in the universe. It is described on the cinema's website as follows:
"This full-throttle gearhead anime sees daredevil driver JP fight for survival in the fast and furious world of underground racing, with the dream of competing – and maybe evening winning – the galaxy's most popular race, the deadly, risk-filled Redline. Unhinged, breathless and totally unique, this visual stunner from veteran animator Takeshi Koike (Ninja Scroll, Memories, The Animatrix) bends and warps the rules of anime to present a nitrous-powered big-screen experience that the likes of Dom Toretto can only dream of."
