『GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045』Latest Trailer(Teaser Visual vol.2)

GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045, the latest in the GHOST IN THE SHELL series that has become a world-renowned milestone of science fiction, will be streamed on Netflix worldwide from 2020 Spring.

Along with the release of the second teaser visual, it has been announced that “Fly with me”, a song by Millennium Parade led by Daiki Tsuneta, an extraordinary musician also known as leader of King Gnu, has been selected as the opening theme of the series.

The song “Fly with me” is a song written especially for GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045, and the band has performed it live while withholding the fact that it was going to become the opening theme of the series. Since its premiere at the launch party for the band in May 2019, the song has gone through many brush-ups and was blessed with a gorgeous gathering of musicians, who made this a spirited song that has Millennium Parade's signature destructive power.

It will be an emotional collaboration as Millennium Parade has been strongly influenced by the GHOST IN THE SHELL series.

[Comment from Daiki Tsuneta]

I remember that every drop of my blood tingled with excitement when I first got the offer to produce the main theme song for GHOST IN THE SHELL. That was because the view of the world that Millennium Parade is trying to create, was strongly influenced by GHOST IN THE SHELL. We said yes on the spot.

“Fly with me” by Millennium Parade, is the theme song for GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045 as well as the theme song for ourselves. As we have love and feel attached with this song, we are very happy to play a part in this project.

To be simultaneously released worldwide in 2020 Spring, please look forward to it.

[About GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045]

A collaboration of Kenji Kamiyama (GHOST IN THE SHELL: S.A.C. series) and Shinji Aramaki (APPLESEED series), the new GHOST IN THE SHELL sets off as the first full-3DCG animation of the series…

Mobile Armored Riot Police (Kōkaku Kidōtai) is an aggressive organization led by Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body prosthesis cyborg, and tackles cybercrimes of the neo-futuristic world where people's wills are connected to the cyberspace due to the advance in the information network and cyborg technology. The story originates in Masamune Shirow's 1989 comic THE GHOST IN THE SHELL and generated a string of visual works such as GHOST IN THE SHELL directed by Mamoru Oshii (1995), the GHOST IN THE SHELL: S.A.C. series by director Kenji Kamiyama (2002~), director Kazuchika Kise's GHOST IN THE SHELL: ARISE series (2013~), and GHOST IN THE SHELL (2017), a Hollywood live-action rendition directed by Rupert Sanders, to name a few. Its cutting-edge yet mindblowing worldview and visual expression has influenced a number of visual artists around the globe, and became a touchstone of near-future science fiction. And in 2020, the latest of the series, animation series GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045 will present a new vision of the future.

Kenji Kamiyama, who directed the GHOST IN THE SHELL: S.A.C. series, and Shinji Aramaki, the man behind the APPLESEED series, join forces up once again following ULTRAMAN (2019) to create the first full-3DCG animation of the GHOST IN THE SHELL series. By implementing the motion capture technology which allows the performances of the actors to be reflected to the characters, and the photorealistic visual images created by the 3DCG technology, the new series present unprecedented cyberpunk actions and a totally new story of Motoko Kusanagi and her group.

Created by Production I.G x SOLA DIGITAL ARTS, the series will be launched in spring 2020 worldwide, exclusively on Netflix.

[Millennium Parade: Biography]

Led by Daiki Tsuneta, a producer/songwriter based in Tokyo, Millennium Parade is an army of creative souls mainly of digital-native millennials such as musicians, visual directors, CG creators, designers, illustrators, etc.

Their creative concept is based on the horde of demons and monsters in Japanese folktales that wander around in the dead of the night, and the term “hyakki yagyo” that refers to their parades. And themed on “Tokyo viewed from the world”, they convey the chaotic and realistic excitement of Tokyo.

In May 2019, their first performance was held in the form of a project launch party. The concert, which featured a 3-D setting, created a huge advance buzz and the tickets sold out in a day. The following Tokyo/Osaka tour also sparked a competition for tickets.

Despite their still short history of activities and being largely a mystery, the group has drawn massive attention as the advocates of a new set of values.
