Episode 7

NOTE: Due to busy holiday plans, there is a good chance that episode 8 will not get a separate review. It will be covered in conjunction with episode 9 in two weeks.

The official Japanese Twitter account for the series announced that episode 7 would be a recap episode which is indeed what we get here: a brief rundown of the original 12-episode series. Aside from some framing narration by Washio/Mimori and perhaps one or two musical themes, there is absolutely nothing new here; every frame was taken from the first series, and the opener was even recycled too. There's nothing special about the way it's put together, either. This is definitely not a creative effort on par with the masterful recap episode of Re:CREATORS.

Normally, we would not see fit to "review" recap episodes for weekly coverage, but because Amazon's numbering for the series does not incorporate half-episodes, this writeup exists mostly to avoid confusion in the numbering for episodes and their rating widgets.

While this effort is ordinary, this is one of the few places where I feel a recap episode is entirely appropriate. With the story set to jump ahead a couple years, a summary of what happened to connect the first part of this series to the second part is actually useful, especially since seeing the events of the prologue puts new meaning on many things that happened in the original series.

Even so, this is still skippable if you've seen the first season.
