Sanrio, Sega Toys Collaborate on Rilu Rilu Fairilu TV Anime

2nd collaboration project after Jewelpet franchise also includes goods, game, event

Sega Toys revealed on Friday that it is collaborating with Sanrio on a new multimedia character project titled Rilu Rilu Fairilu that will include a TV anime, merchandise, books, a game, and events.

The project is the second multimedia character collaborative project for the two companies after they launched the Jewelpet franchise in 2008. Rilu Rilu Fairilu is similarly geared toward elementary school-age girls.

In the franchise's story, "Fairilu" are fairies of flowers, insects, mermaids, or other entities that are born from "Farilu Seeds." All Fairilu are born with their own key, and they must search to find and open the door that fits only their key. Once the Fairilu pass through the doors, they mature. The doors are also related to the human world.

The franchise will launch with stationary, accessories, bags, and other merchandise from Sanrio in March 2016.

Sega Toys and Sanrio also revealed an image of Little Fairilu, where the Fairilu live.

Additionally, the two companies revealed images of the four "representative" Fairilu characters that will appear in the franchise:
