Those are interesting releases, but madman usually does DVD right?

I would say the majority of their recent releases are on both DVD and BD.

Madman tends to do Blu-ray where possible, but the trend for both Hanabee and Madman seems to be if sub only then DVD only. Which kind of makes sense. |

Still can't believe that FUNimation just ditched the idea of releasing Tatami Galaxy for home release in N. America. I think they messed up basing it on the streaming numbers. That show had a huge following online when it aired...most just probably viewed it fansubbed. Australians are super lucky to have that series available to them.

We had it over here as well, before Beez/Bandai went down the toilet.

Excellent, now I can get the complete 2nd season of Chihayafuru. Siren Visual is awesome as usual.

I doubt that. Over at AS, the thread for Tatami Galaxy garnered only 338 postings, a tiny number compared to other shows at the time, though more than for House of Five Leaves which ran alongside it. Shiki, in contrast, attracted nearly 2,200 posts, a multiple so large that it cannot be attributed solely to Shiki's longer length. The Western audience for "artsy" shows is pretty small. It took seven years for someone to license Mononoke in the US, and it wasn't one of the major licensors. |

The audience for "artsy" anime in general is small. I don't have anything to support my claim but I feel like Tatami would have done just fine if it was given the chance. The online community has always been infatuated with projects Yuasa has been behind. Kaiba and Kemonozume slipped through the cracks just like Tatami. The Western fandom hasn't been properly exposed to his stuff yet (maybe Kick Heart has changed that) but if they had been I think we would see people flocking to them just like fans of Ikuhara and Utena did with Penguindrum. Tatami literally blew me away when I saw it for the first time last year I'd consider myself a casual fan. The execution was amazing everything just tied together so damn well. At this point I'm thinking that its some sort of licensing issue that has stopped Tatami from being released stateside. I've given up waiting for it I bought up all of the JP BDs days ago, but I will without a doubt buy a N. American set to show my friends and family if it ever happens (hopefully dubbed too).
Did you guys get just the DVD offering also? |

I just realized the 2nd Chihayafuru set from Siren Visual is the entire 2nd season not split in 2 parts like the first season was.
Now I just have to wait for a sale. |
